A rather interesting question replied by mancha @ Sun, 05 Oct 2008 11:20:33 +0800

Computerised palm reading was around more than 20 years ago.
They photocopy your palm, and then feed the print into a reader, a
separate report is churned out with the lines arrowed and the
appropriate comments on the lines given..

I did not like it, because the photocopy of the palm is a bit
ghastly, and the readings are prepared text for a particular
type of line. Much like those numbered slips of paper in
temples telling your destiny.

Furthermore palm reading is an art, you need to study the
readee, and assess him/her and then apply human psychology
in relation to your knowledge of palm lines. Most of the readings
given are noncommital, neutral, general, and vague. You make your
circumstances fit the readings, then then claim that the
clairvoyant is really good.

there is already such software around long long time ago...

but ..fyi,

ba zi or zi wei is not a so call "dead" calculation.. its
accuracy depend alot on the doer's exp and cosmic instinct..

so, if u think any tom , dick or harry can jus do ba zi and
expect accuracy..then u r very very wrong...

jus like a class of 40 students, all hving the same maths
teacher and study env, but y so little score 100 and yet so
many jus pass and some even fail..

there r lot of discrepancy in ba zi n zi wei, where by no
software can replace human mind...to do the analysis...

Since many of the fortune telling (I dont know what is the
specific name) uses date of birth and time of birth of you or ur
parents to calculate, all things that the fortune tellers
calculated should be the same. How come there is such a big
difference in price when we go to different shops in fu lu shou to
seek advice?

Also, since all these are fixed, as in the masters also
calculate using the tong shu, why cant this process be automated
into a computer software whereby everyone can just key into the
computer the date and time of birth and the computer generate a
report instantly?

Searching for the Buddha replied by Liangtai22 @ Thu, 02 Oct 2008 11:03:39 +0800

Searching for the Buddha

A
monk set off on a long pilgrimage to find the Buddha. He devoted
many years to his search until he finally reached the land where
the Buddha was said to live. While crossing the river to this
country, the monk looked around as the boatman rowed. He noticed
something floating towards them. As it got closer, he realized that
it was the corpse of a person. When it drifted so close that he
could almost touch it, he suddenly recognized the dead body - it
was his own! He lost all control and wailed at the sight of
himself, still and lifeless, drifting along the river's currents.
That moment was the beginning of his liberation. People's reactions
to this story: "The dead body symbolizes his self-centeredness -
his bodily desires and wants - which he must transcend in order to
really find Buddha and the truth." "I guess in order to find true
spirituality, one must cast off this physical body. This guy's
liberation came because he realized that his physical body had
nothing to do with his pilgrimage to find the Buddha." "You need to
live your life for yourself, because one day you'll find yourself
dead without having achieved anything you wanted out of life. You
were too busy worrying about something else. What a waste!" "Many
times I have found myself heading towards a certain goal and then
realized when I almost reached it that it really wasn't all that
important. It was what I found on my way there that was important."
"Some people watch life pass them by - and they don't realize it
until it's almost gone." "Even when he was alive, he wasn't alive.
He didn't realize that until he saw the corpse." "I wonder if that
corpse was his twin brother?" "This story is very depressing to me
- and it also doesn't make any sense." "The man needed to find
HIMSELF and not the Buddha. Seeing his own dead body made him
realize that he had to search his own soul and not someone else's.
He now knew that he could go on with his life and make it on his
own." "This guy wasted so many years of his life looking for this
great Buddha, and for what?! He should make good of his own life
and not spend it chasing after someone else, no matter how great
they seem to be. He has to spend his life looking for himself!" "Is
this man being told not to look for death before his time?" "He
wasn't ready to receive Buddha. He still needed to search within
himself." "I think the Buddha knew that the monk was searching for
him and this was a test to see how he would cope with their meeting
and the meaning of that meeting." "Does this mean you can only find
the Buddha after you're dead?" "Facing up to the reality of death
enables one to live life more fully." "He HAD found Buddha. Buddha
had taken his soul into the afterworld. His soul was born as his
body died. His soul was liberated by Buddha." "This story is
unbelievable. If I saw my own dead body drifting down a river I
would check myself into a mental hospital."

It is safer & better to get from a monk in temple directly.
Just my opinion.
Now I have some interesting idea, don't know if anyone knows about
it.
Can I use ouija board to invite my kmt to communicate with

If I want to have a kmt statue, can I request the monk to let my
kmt occupy both the statue and the amulet.

Hi guys,I have a few Katha or prayer that i would like to share.
Maybe we can make this thread about various katha if people decide
to share & help others on the same path.

1) This is a thai love spell using a cigarette.

I Ti Ja Ta Ti Mat Tang Song Klip Luab Lang Nang Krai Sa Wa
Ha

The cigarette is used for this magic and blown on the woman you
love. It can help make the woman love you.

2) Some thai believe certain katha can even ward off bullets
& other weapons.

(A Ni Thas Sa Na Ap Pa Ti)

If you pray this magic, no one can shoot you.

(A Ni Tas Sa Na Ap Pa Ti Ka)

If you pray this magic, the gun doesn’t work.

(A Ni Tas Sa Na Ap Pa Ti Ka Ya)

If you pray this magic and someone still wants to shoot you, the
gun barrel will be broken.

Regards,If you have any Katha request please ask & i will

Fengshui Tips of the Day replied by Liangtai22 @ Tue, 23 Sep 2008 10:54:48 +0800

When travel:

1. Keep 6 peacock feathers in your car to protect you from
accidents and to keep people with bad intentions from entering your
car.

2. Hang or place a bird in your car. Birds signify good omens
and bring safety during travel.

3. Keep or carry a symbol of longevity with you for personal
safety and protection against harmful energies.

Five things you should never give:

1. Never Give Sharp Objects

Gifts of sharp objects are actually more popular than one would
expect because most people don't see them as such. Examples of
sharp objects that are unsuitable as gifts include the following:
blade, chainsaw, dagger, hunting knife, letter opener, penknife,
scissors, Swiss Army knife, sword, etc

2.Never Give Timepieces

In the West, timepieces are, in fact, quite well-liked as gifts.
These include: alarm clock, wall clock, pocket watch, wristwatch,
etc.

Timepieces measure the passage of time and this indirectly
suggests a limited lifespan, which is very inauspicious

3. Never Give Red Roses

Did you know that you should never give red roses? Long stemmed
red roses with sharp thorns are terrible as gifts. The longer the
stem and the sharper the thorns ... the more the relationship will
suffer. If you send your lover a bouquet of red roses - romantic
and all - it will be the beginning of the end of the
relationship.

4. Never Give Shoes

In Chinese (Cantonese), the word for shoes, 'hai', sounds very
much like a sigh. This is very inauspicious as it suggests much
unhappiness. A gift of shoes to your friend would be akin to
sending bad luck his/her way.

5. Never Give Handkerchiefs

Gifts of handkerchiefs are also traditionally frowned upon. This
is because a handkerchief is used to wipe away sweat and tears,
which suggests a lot of sadness and frustration. Giving
handkerchiefs as gifts suggest that you anticipate him/her to be
doing much crying in the future. This generates such an
inauspicious chi.

Buddha inspiration story replied by Liangtai22 @ Mon, 22 Sep 2008 23:26:47 +0800

Buddha means "Awakened One", someone who has awakened and sees
things as they really are. According toAboutBuddha.org ,
a Buddha is a person who is completely free from all faults and
mental obstructions. Because he has awakened from the sleep of
ignorance and has removed all obstructions from his mind, he knows
everything of the past, present, and future, directly and
simultaneously. Moreover, Buddha has great compassion which is
completely impartial, embracing all living beings without
discrimination.

The person who is generally referred to by the name Buddha
was Siddhārtha
Gautama , a spiritual teacher from ancient India and the
founder of Buddhism who lived at around 500 BCE. Forty-nine days
after Buddha attained enlightenment he was requested to teach. As a
result of this request, Buddha rose from meditation and taught the
first Wheel of Dharma.

Those teachings of The Buddha such as The
Four Noble Truths or the Noble
Eightfold Path are timeless and reflect personal and
spiritual development.

Many quotes that are handed down until today are both inspirational
as well as reflecting deeper truth of reality. What can we learn,
where can we be inspired from The Buddha today for everyday life
and our own development?

I selected following quotations as both inspirational and helpful,
regardless of where we are in personal development …

1. "All that we are is the result of what we have thought. The mind
is everything. What we think we become."

You become what you think about or in other words: what you focus
on grows in your life and from what you take your focus away from
diminishes. This is also the message of the law of attraction,
recently very popular by the movie and book "The
Secret ".

It means that the mind is directing our life in that way that we
manifest the life around us by the thoughts and directions we take
with our mind. Since everything we created around us is first
created in the mind, it is the tool or the interface between our
self and the material world.

Another quote of Buddha with a similar message here is "He is able
who thinks he is able". This also shows the creative power of the
mind and if we are able to consciously use it in that way –
avoiding negative thoughts and utilizing empowering thoughts – we
use it in a supportive manner.

2. "All wrong-doing arises because of mind. If mind is transformed
can wrong-doing remain?"

This is the core of personal development. It points towards the
need to train and develop the mind and to free it from limits and
negativity.

The other quote "The mind is the source of happiness and
unhappiness." makes the same point with the special notion of
happiness. The mind used correctly – i.e. constructive, empowering,
solution- and action-oriented, positive, truth-seeking - can create
happiness. But used poorly – i.e. blaming, egocentric, negative,
blinded by ambition or separation - it will create unhappiness for
us. Training the mind is the key here.

The quote may also point to a transformation by awakening directly,
where the mind becomes the servant of the self and not the creator
of a self-image (the concept of the ego) as a replacement for the
true self.

3. "Thousands of candles can be lit from a single candle, and the
life of the candle will not be shortened. Happiness never decreases
by being shared."

This points to the abundant nature of reality. The abundance
mentality says there is enough for everyone, we only have to
realize and live by it. It is the opposite of a scarcity mentality,
where you have the belief that you always have to fight for your
part in a limited world.

4. "Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future,
concentrate the mind on the present moment."

The essence of living in the present moment, the Now, is focusing
the mind here and take attention away from thinking about past or
future. The present moment is all there ever is to experience life
directly. Past and future are only concepts of our mind and
therefore are good for learning from the past or conceptual
planning when it is useful, but after this there is no need for
them. Especially not to dwell in them and get stuck there in the
mind by constant thinking loops.

I wrote more about this in "What
is The Present Moment " and in "Clock
Time vs. Psychological Time ". The present moment is
the entry
point to the spiritual dimension and to life itself.

5. "However many holy words you read, however many you speak, what
good will they do you If you do not act on upon them?"

Action is what counts. It means to be action-oriented and to
actually do what we think, to prove what we believe by applying it
in reality. Only if we "walk our talk" we are authentic and
truthful to ourselves.

To apply yourself and your ideas in reality is like a proof-test
for what we think is right and will work. If there is no action and
therefore no testing in reality, the words or ideas themselves are
of no real sustainable value.

Another quote for this message is "A dog is not considered a good
dog because he is a good barker. A man is not considered a good man
because he is a good talker."

6. "Even death is not to be feared by one who has lived
wisely."

This is the essence of Carpe
diem – To seize the day fully means living wisely. It
means to live to the highest truth we know and to rise to our
highest values and capabilities.

Living wisely also means not to believe every thought that comes,
but to live more from the space between thoughts, from our
essence.

7. "Peace comes from within. Do not seek it without."

The so-called Inside-Out approach means to look within oneself to
find the inspiration and power to act from this place. It means not
to look to the outside world for liberation or happiness, but to
take the responsibility for
oneself and become that what we are seeking.

His second quote here "No one saves us but ourselves. No one can
and no one may. We ourselves must walk the path." talks directly
about this responsibility, response-ability we have inside.

8. "In the sky, there is no distinction of east and west; people
create distinctions out of their own minds and then believe them to
be true."

Any perspective we have on anything is only a relative truth. There
are always both (or more) sides of any story. An objective
perspective or an absolute truth is very hard or maybe impossible
to see. But to be aware of this and to be interested to see another
perspective from another person can be very mind-opening and
valuable.

The matter of perspective (also described in the 7
habits of highly effective people ) is a very powerful one
and it is the core of most (if not all?) conflicts between people.
One things one is right as long one stays in one’s own single
perspective – needless to say, the other person has the same
reality.

There is a similar quote by The Buddha that fits in here: "In
seperateness lies the world’s great misery, in compassion lies the
world’s true strength" which shows that if we become able to
dissolve the separate perspective to a perspective of oneness with
all other, we hold the key to end conflicts and to find solution
and agreements suitable for everybody.

9. "If we could see the miracle of a single flower clearly, our
whole life would change."

This quote is perhaps the most difficult one to really understand.
In the first place, it is not about the beautiful nature of the
flower or beauty itself. What Buddha is talking about – in my
humble opinion – is to see and get in touch with the life in a
flower directly, without any interference by our mind by mental
concepts and thoughts of the flower.

Eckhart Tolle in "A New Earth" talks about the flowering of human
consciousness, maybe you want to take
a look …

10. "The only real failure in life is not to be true to the best
one knows."

If we are not authentic and truthful to ourselves, we build a wall
around us that eventually we have to tear down again. It is then
literally a resistance to the reality and our own nature where we
can hide some time, but life has a way to show us our own faults in
the end.

To be true to the best one knows means to come from our own best
knowledge and not buy into something outside ourselves blindly,
always asking: is this really true to what I know?

In resonance with this quote also is the final one by The
Buddha:

"There are only two mistakes one can make along the road to truth;
not going all the way, and not starting."
